Is there a less clutch goalie in the league than Niemi? How did he win a cup?

Back to back games we have the lead in the last few mins of the third and cant get hold the lead. How do we get out goaltended every night? Even if Niemi has a decent game the other goalie has a better game.

And he left Marleau, Thornton, And Boyle on the bench. The team's highest paid players, the teams leaders and none of them in the shootout.

Instead it is Wingels and Moore really? Even Mitchell who scored tonight would have been a better choice then Moore or Wingels.

It is called good defense in front of you, and a great offensive team. If you remember Niemi was not even the starter the year the Hawks won the cup. He rotated in goal. And even Nabokov had a better save percentage then Niemi that year. And besides if Niemi was all that great of a goalie, why would Chicago just let him walk instead of the defense man?

And once again Cam falls into the media, and bull that Randy and Drew put out, about shots. Note to CAM Shots do not mean anything, it is goals that count. Notice how the Sharks are in the top 2 in shots in the league, but in the bottom 10 in overall scoring? Defense man shooting from the blue line, and bad angle and low percentage shots mean nothing.

Cam I know you are NEW at Hockey, but maybe you should go back to the Sharks 06-07 team where they had to win 13 of the last 16 games to make the playoffs. Or maybe 07-08 where we went 13-0-2 in March of that year to make the playoffs.

Teams make their own luck. This team is going nowhere except to the golf course in April, and Marty Havlat is not going to help the team.

Would you take Heatley over Havlat right now?

I know it's your prerogative to be negative about the Sharks, but you should take your own advice here. Look at some of the February/March runs the Sharks have made before. They can still make a run and win the division, they're only 4 points back and with 2 games in hand. They win those games and they're tied for the division lead.

No, I wouldn't, and for 2 reaons.

1: If we have Heatley we don't have the salary cap room to acquire all the trade deadline acquisitions we've made, and probably have much weaker forward depth.

2: Heatley was terrible in the playoffs. Yes, Havlat is untested in the playoffs with our team, but i'm interested to see how he performs.

I would have never done the deal in the first place. I knew and stated such here in July that Havlat would be injured and I for one am not surprised. Say what you want about Heater, the guy plays every game and scores goals.

That is what I am trying to point out to Cam. He said in his article that the Sharks Are used to coasting in, and my point was that he is not correct.

I know. And I said what I said mostly in response to this quote from you:

How can you point out the Sharks ability to make March runs in one post, then say they're going nowhere but the golf course in the next post?

First off you are wrong about the cap space money. YOU UNDERSTAND the Space is prorated right. EVEN with Heatley we would of had plenty of cap space. We had plenty of space for rentals. This past deadline we could have acquired a player with a 13 million dollar cap hit. So with Heatley costing slightly more it would have been about 10 million.

2. Your making an assumption that Havlat is good in the playoffs, based on how he did with a great offense in Chicago. And let's be honest here Heatley was a better +/- player then Thornton each of the last two playoff seasons. Add in that Heatley was MISUSED during last years playoffs by the idiot who is our coach and no way no how can you make that statement. If McLellan puts Havlat on the 3rd line with Moore and Winnik and Havlat scores 0 goals will you blame him, or blame the coach for putting him on the wrong line.

And finally if the playoff thing is so big as to why to get somebody. Then why get rid of Setoguchi who scored 7 goals last playoffs and has played well in the playoffs for Brent Burns who has ZERO playoff experience. So Havlat for Heatley helps in the playoffs, as does Seto and Burns? Seems in one case it matter and in another it doesn't.

Note: Heatley scored 7 goals in the playoffs when put on the proper line and on the #1 PP.

Because they will make the playoffs, but get beat in the first round is how.
